#2. Yamaha EF4500iSE - Portable Gasoline Generator Review

Yamaha has a good track record of producing some of the most reliable and efficient portable generators in terms of functionality, durability and power efficiency.

The EF4500iSE does well to uphold this reputation. It's a powerful little generator that's capable of meeting most of the basic electric power needs while still being fuel-efficient and fairly silent, qualities that makes it one of the ultimate RV generators.

Featuring a 375cc OHV single four-stroke cylinder Yamaha engine, the EF4500iSE is capable of supplying sufficient power to run most domestic electrical equipment. The engine is able to deliver 4,000 watts of running power which can surge up to 4,500 watts.

The unit gives out cleaner electricity with a low harmonic distortion which is safe for sensitive electronic equipment, so it's really an ideal generator for an RV for powering your appliances.

It can power an RV 1000 watt microwave oven and 15,000 BTU air conditioner plus it's suitable for other sensitive electronic equipment like televisions, computers, satellite TV systems, and fridge, to name just a few.

The fuel tank has the capacity of 4.5 gallons which is sufficient to hold enough fuel to run the generator for around 15 hours at 25% load capacity. At 50% load, it will go for about 10 to 12 hours which is basically the range for most fuel tanks for generators of this size.

The tank will keep the machine running for nearly 7 hours at full load. Considering the fuel capacity and the run time, you are guaranteed sufficient power to keep your appliances running for at least a solid workday.

This simple fact makes the Yamaha EF4500iSE an ideal camping partner but also a perfect option for domestic use at home. It's even equipped with a low oil warning system that automatically shuts down the engine to protect it from exhaustion.

The engine is also designed to adjust to power requirements as it features the inverter technology. It can constantly run at an ultra-low speed of 1000 to 2600 rpm. The payoff for this slow engine speed is a reduction in fuel consumption as well as engine wear.

The generator can be turned on using an electric starter but even much better, Yamaha has included an optional wireless remote control that works from a distance of up to 66 feet away. It's a nice addition that allows you to start the generator more easily.

As with almost all of Yamaha's generators, this one is designed to ensure minimum noise. It has a noise block sound reduction system which combined with the slow engine speed makes it one of the few quietest generators on the market today.

It has a noise level of 58 to 60 dB when the engine is running at 25% load capacity. Therefore, it's very quiet for a generator of its size.

The only major setback though is that there is no recoil starter which usually serves as a nice back up should the electric starter fail.

This means you will have to ensure that the battery always has enough power so that you can be able to start the generator whenever a need arises.

Other than that, the Yamaha EF4500iSE is a powerful compact generator that's not only very portable but also very capable of generating power most efficiently.

If you own an RV or love comping and you want a reliable power source, then you might want to consider this Yamaha portable generator.
